FAQ's
Do you teach adults?
Yes, we teach anyone over the age of 5 years old. Simon frequently teaches adults during the day from 10am-4pm when they might slip away from work, be on a day off or simply need a little “me” time. Playing the drums is an incredible feeling. Adults typically don’t want to do the exam material but instead tend to focus on songs, technique, rudiments, etc.
Whatever you want to do we will cover it.
Can parents sit in on lessons?
We prefer parents to wait in our comfortable waiting area, with free Wi-Fi, where you can watch and hear the lesson live on a big screen TV. For your peace of mind, both studios live stream the lessons to screens in the waiting area so you can always see directly into the studios.

Do I have to take exams?
No, absolutely not. Learning to play a musical instrument is rewarding in itself. We will teach you whatever it is you want to learn.

Are discounts available?
Only if you pay for 10 lessons in advance. Think of a block of 10 as credits to be spent whenever you wish… weekly, fortnightly, monthly, you are not tied to a schedule. Most students come once a week but it’s all up to you.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes for singular lessons or shop purchases (we sell sticks, heads, accessories, used kits, loads of stuff) we have a credit card terminal for contactless spending. For blocks of 10 we request a bank transfer to our account. Our banking details, along with our prices, are on display in the payment area next to the till.
Are the teachers DBS checked?
Yes every two years all our staff have to undergo an enhanced DBS check so they can teach at Ash Bash but also in state and private schools. All staff also complete training courses in Health & Safety and various other statutory requirements to ensure Ash Bash is a safe, qualified school of learning. Our certificates are on display at the studios.
How much are lessons?
From £19 per 30mins. See our full price list for details.

Exam Dates
With Simon & Phil on permanent staff, and due to the new Digital Assessment format offered by the exam boards, we can examine students whenever they are ready. We film and submit the entry, via our registered exam centre portal, direct for marking. Prior to Covid we used to have to wait for an external examiner to visit us three times a year. Now students can be examined and pushed through the syllabus as soon as they are ready. Grades 1-6 can be taken on electronic drums. For grades 7 & 8 we always use acoustic drums.
