GUILDHALL DRUM KIT MUSIC EXAMS
Many students and parents have expressed an interest in graded examinations for the drums. Ash Bash Studios is now a recognised exam centre for Guildhall School of Music & Trinity Music College.
Examinations are held twice a year in JANUARY and JULY at Ash Bash Studios Bracknell. A qualified external examiner from the Guildhall School Of Music (GSM) will come to the studios where exams will be held in Studio 1. This is both convenient and also a familiar environment. Studio 2 can be used as a practice room prior to the exam.
There are additional fees which are levied by the exam board. Information on fee scales is all available in a GSM booklet in the studio, but costs are roughly £40-£50 per exam. Exams range from Grade 1 thru to Grade 8. After Grade 8 there is a teaching diploma which qualifies you as a recognised GSM teacher. It is not necessary to start at Grade 1 if you have been playing for a while. We can assess your level and tell you the best exam to start with. You can take up to two exam grades during any single exam day visit provided you cover all the fees.
The exam grades are nationally recognised and will count as accreditation to further education in all UK based higher education colleges.
About two weeks after the exam is taken notification is sent to us and we pass this on to you. If successful then a certificate is issued by the exam board usually within 4-6weeks after the exam was taken.
The syllabus and exam content is available for purchase from us at the studio and we will assist you in lessons to prepare for exams if you want to follow this course. Studying for these exams is entirely optional.
